pwd, although I was always taught that stood for "print working directory". Either way it works.

I should also point out that there is a great virtue in searching the internet for Linux tutorials - there are literally hundreds of them out there and all of them will tell you about basic commands like pwd :)

pwd - stands for present working directory

I typically change my shell prompt to show my working directory so I always know where I am. For bash shell, try something like:

PS1="\$(date +%H:%M) \u@\h:\w\\$ "
