They will be like any other small animal, only smell if you dont clean them out regularly. I have 2 rats, and they are cleaned out every 3rd day, and they dont small. Also use, wood pellets as a base for their cage not sawdust, its better for them.

Mice don't smell all that bad (at least female mice). Males are a bit muskier, but even those aren't awful if you clean the cage every few days. One female mouse alone should be no problem at all. Just be sure you clean the cage about once a week and the smell shouldn't be a problem. You may also want to use the mix that I do with my mice-- half CareFresh and half aspen bedding. It's comfy for them and absorbs odor.

Male mice are the ones that smell because they mark their territory a lot. It can get really stinky really quickly. Females don't smell as bad. If you plan on getting one get a female. If you do get a male you can cut down on the smell by using pine bedding. Or one trick that people use is to put a few drops of vanilla extract into their drinking water. That will cut down on the smell a little bit. But if you get a female it shouldn't be a problem.

Female mice do not smell as much as males. I find that my mice like to use on corner of their cage as the bathroom so I scoop out that part daily and don't have a problem with odor.

They smell like what they're exposed to. As long as you change the cage occasionally, they don't smell. I have a hamster, that's close enough to a mouse for me, and it smells better than my brother.
