I had a friend who was on the pill for 12 years and got pregnant the first month! So it pretty much depends on your body, it takes about 30 hrs for the hormones to leave your body after the last pill you took, after that it is all up to your body! I was on the pill for 6.5 years and it took me 6 weeks to get my first period after the pill then I got pregnant on that first cycle. Your body has to start working on its own, but you can help it out a little bit, start taking your prenatal vitamins now and if you smoke, quit smoking right now. It will be just fine I promise you, I used to freak out! because i read so many things about getting off the pill, they told me that it was going to take me half of the time I took the pill to get pregnant and I was like what??? and look it took me a month! So you will be just fine and will have a healthy baby too. My doctor told me that women who have been on the pill, have kept their reproductive system healthier than those who don't, it has been clinically proven that women on the pill do not get cysts or fibroids. But everyone is different so you just relax, quit your pill and get to the baby making. God bless.
There are NO SIDE EFFECTS after quitting the pill, and NO there are no risks for the baby if you get pregnant right away!!

I was on the pill for almost 10 years. My cycle remained regular when I went off, but the side effects took a few months to go away. I've read it can be about 3-6 months after you go off the pill for your fertility chances to go back up to "normal".

I was on the pill, injection etc for 9 years altogether. I stopped taking the pill in Jan 05 and it took me 5 months to conceive. I was geting worried after 4 months and bought an ovulation kit, and fell pregnant the first time i used it, so i would recommend getting a kit. My baby boy was born in March 06 and is perfect!

I have been on pill for 7 years. I stoped them last year in december. Now I am pregnant...so...you should take your chance...However be careful when you stop taking pills you should avoid getting pregnant the first three months...Some doctors say that there are some risks for the baby....

Let the pill get out of your system, and accept that it can take a couple of years, so just relax and enjoy lots of sex.....it's the best way to get pregnant....

some times being on the pill for sooo long can make u temporarily infertile. your body has to re-develope fertile eggs and that could take years.
