Im 9 weeks pregnant and this ear infection is the worst thing ever! I cant eat, open my jaw, lay down or talk. My ear is swollen so bad that it is sticking out of my head. Very painful. I had the same thing 2 months before I got pregnant and I was given Amoxicillin Amox-Clav and Oxycodone. Any doctors or nurses out there??? Is the Amoxicillin or Amox-Clav safe to take. I have tried at home remidies, and aspirin, but NOTHING HELPS! I am in so much pain. I havent gone to my first doctor visit yet because the insurace needs to clear first. So seeing a doctor is not possible until next week. And the pain is so bad I cannot sleep or work. Please help me. Please!

I feel so sorry for you. Ear aches are some of the worst pain but try this get some sweet oil get it as warm as you can stand it and put 2 or 3 drops in your ear then soak a cotton ball with it and stick that in your ear but not to far and put a hot rag on it, see if that will help it did for my mother when she was preganent with me. Also there is a thing called ear candles at the health store they work really well just have to have some one help you with them but they will draw all the wax and any infection that you might have in your ear out. Good luck and congradulations on being a mom.

You must spend the $25-$50 to go to an AM-PM clinic. You can't treat an ear infection with ANYTHING over-the-counter that will work. You actually need a shot and not a pill at this stage.

Amoxicillin is just fine during pregnancy... probably not Oxycodone. However, even if you started taking it (Amoxicillin) today it won't work as fast as a shot will tomorrow.

I feel sorry for you... ear infections are bad and they never get better until you are on a real antibiotic.

Do you have an emerga-care or some other after hours clinic? You could go to a Walgreen's and ask a pharmisit as well, what they recommend. Also sometime you can get insurance to back pay. The Er will not make you pay upfront, they will do payments, I know it is expensive, but honey your hearing is way to import to loose!

you poor thing. try getting a hot water bottle and put it in a pillow case and lay on it, take paracetamol every 4 hrs and ibrophen every 6 hrs.. i know it is so very painful- i had my first ever earache last week.. im 36yrs old! and i cried like a baby...
dont bother with antibiotics... they can force your ear to heal too quickly...and this can lead to fluid behind the eardrum-which is as painful.... and can go on for a long time!
you mustnt take aspirin... not while you are pregnant...can cause problems... hope you feel better soon. px

Why are you wasting your time asking invisible people? GO TO THE DOCTOR!!! Your doctor will be able to tell you what to do that's safe for you and your baby.
