Have you heard of the statistics that throughout our lifetime we will swallow dozens of insects during our sleep, including spiders? Please tell me this isn't true.

This is an urban myth. You are no more likely to swallow insects or spiders while you are asleep than when you are awake. Don't let this ridiculous idea bother your nighttime rest.

Yup, it sure is. A week ago I heard that on average we swallow 5 spiders a year because we sleep with our mouth open. and this is when they crawl in, and we swallow. The FDA approved years and years ago certain amounts of bugs which are considered safe to be in our food products. So, we essentially eat bugs everyday!!!! Gross, but a fact.

Well, have you ever seen those four-poster beds with a canopy over the bed, that were popular long ago? The reason for the canopy was that, in the days of thatched rooves, it prevented rats, cockroaches, spiders and mice falling into your open mouth while you were asleep.
