It's a combination of the futures market and greedy oil companies. I remember the first months of the war watching on CSPAN where all these republican congressman kept saying the war would pay for itself with Iraqi oil by lowering the market... GO FIGURE ANOTHER LIE

Just because of that, the world market reacts raising the prices per barrel. The more chances of a conflict in Middle East and the biggest oil producers in the world - mainly members of the OPEC - the higher the prices of oil gets.
Sure, there other producers that does not belong to the mainly Arab OPEC, but nobody will sell cheaper something that has an international higher price.
After all Oil is a large but limited resource
Only increasing exploitation in the US would help to keep the prices somehow lower: that is happening already.

We never went to the Middle East for oil. That is a Liberal propaganda theme… iow; we are going to steal oil from someone.

They lost the White House. They’ve lost the Senate. They’ve lost the House of Representatives. They’ve lost the Governorships. More young people are signing up as Republicans instead of Democrats (first time in our history).

They are desperate to get back power and they will exaggerate anything to make one believe less of the other side. In other words, their policies won’t get them elected so they just attack the other side hoping that by bringing someone down it will elevate them.

Do you remember when Kerry said this was the “Worst economy since the Great Depression?” In those days people would stand in line hours for soup (called soup lines) so they wouldn’t starve. This was told by the man they hoped to win back the White House for them.

He was a War Protester they tried to package as a War Hero during a time of war.

He was a “Billionaire” that was calling a Millionaire (Bush), rich. The difference between a Billion and a Million – If Bush spent all his money a dollar every second he would be broke in 13 days.

If Kerry spent all his money a dollar every second he would be broke in 31 YEARS.

Yet they had the people believing that Bush was the “rich oil man.” Kerry talked about owning an old car instead of some fancy new car. However, Kerry owned one business jet that was worth more than Bush’s net worth. The most expenisve business jet money can buy.

They wanted you to believe that we went to the Middle East for oil and they succeeded. No wonder you would be asking that question. I would too, if I didn’t know it was a lie.

We didn't go to war for oil. No matter what happens in Iraq, the oil will always belong to Iraq. Prices are high because of higher demand due to the modernization of China and India, as well as speculation over oil supply.

You have to come to the conclusion we didn't go to the middle east for oil. It's just a stupid liberal idea to bash the war. Look at the profits of the major oil companies for the last couple of quaters. The numbers are in the billions.

We obviously did not pass to Iraq to get oil. If we would have loved oil, all we had to do replaced into help lifting sanctions and reduce a manage Saddam. by way of the undeniable fact that is, we are no longer even being paid for our efforts in Iraq out of oil proceeds. final analysis: we did not pass for less expensive oil.

We have enough oil in the Gulf to drown most of the Arabs. Oil companies capped wells when price controls went into effect.

personally, I live in the middle East, Kuwait to be specific. And I also lived in America.. The oil prices in Kuwait are much more cheaper.. I fill my car for not more than 15 dollars, and in America I fill it up with at least more than 20 dollars. My car in kuwait needs more gallons of petrol than what my car needed in America, so you see..
There is oil in America, but they keep using oil from other countries, so I suggest u move here.. its not bad at all :)

we went there to keep it off the open market not to steal it. all nations have oil reserves but they are too low to drill & are saving it. iraqs oil would lower the price taking away from saudi profits. remember, rice is chair for cheveron, bush family has many ties with saudi oil, rumsfeld, cheney, ect. its the monopoly of oil production.

This is not only unjustified aggression; this is an aggression which was clearly ill-fated from the very beginning. When half of the country is religious fundamentalists and they elect a moron of a president, the troubles are just waiting to happen.
