You show your product and you ask questions to determine need and desire of the product by your prospective customer.
People do not like to be "sold", when they feel this you have lost the sale. People do however, like to buy, but let them make the decision.
Above all be ethical, never attempt to sell anything to anyone that they do not need or cannot afford.
Use your presentation to handle "objections" before you get them and learn to treat "objections" as unanswered questions.
Example: What is it you can't afford Mr. Jones, the {entire cost} or a small monthly payment? We have payment plans to fit into any responsible working persons budget, you are a responsible working person, are you not?

There is a great book called "Influence: Science and Practice" by Robert B. Cialdini. Great techniques that you can use in sales. If you are serious about becoming a better seller, I would take the time and money to invest in books about it (or at least invest in the trip to the library).

The trick is..to make folks think they NEED your product..when in reality they probably dont.
