Hahah...oh igloos? No...I think Americans think you're all beaver beaters, drinking whisky, hiding from the Royal Mounted Police, while hating on the Qubecois for refusing to speak your brand of eh-ridden English. Oh and you all forgot to lock up your Indians. Oh oh, and Michael Moore says you guys have less gun deaths per year, and you don't lock your front doors. Ah, and in Toronto? the police turn a blind eye to prostitution and marijuana because they have real criminals to chase. And you guys hated Celine Dion so much you sent her to America...see? Those damned Quebecois are good for nothing.
Now here comes the serious part. I went to a rather large bookstore, Borders, in Southern California (it's not Mexico, I swear!) and asked for a book on Canadian history. The only thing they could give me was a book on the general history of North America.
Now what I know: you are still part of the Commonwealth, but you do not play cricket (for shame!), but you are about as fanatical about ice hockey as the Americans are about American football. You still use proper English spellings for words. You like to export all your annoying celebrities (Celine Dion, Alex Trebek, William Shatner, Hayden Christensen, Avril Lavigne)...

well... in school i didn't really learn much about your government but i do know that you don't live in an igloo...lol...i don't think i've ever thought Canadians lived in igloos. That is probably just a stereotypes Canadians have of us Americans. I have to admit there are some real dumb @sses who don't know anything about Canada but the Majority of us aren't as ignorant about your country as you might think.
the only stereotype I have about Canadians is that they were nice....and so far it's been true, except for those few bad seeds but ever country has a few bad seed...President Bush is one of our bad seeds lol

I don't think you live in igloos. I imagine your culture is very similar to ours. But you are right that we don't learn a lot of background on Canada. At least I didn't, and I went to an average (or above average) suburban high school. I do know that Canda is a lot more 'French' than America. lol...I could probably stand for a lesson on Canada! :)

I'm American and I know a lot about Canada. In fact, I know more about Canada than most Canadians I know. Of course, this is because I want to move to Canada to escape all the stupid fundamentalist Christians who are destroying the United States...

Because we DON'T LIVE THERE. Let alone have anything to do with Canada. We don't give a **** unlike Canada who loves to talk and dish on us. Get a life and drop the stereotypes. If you really want to know about America come visit or if you want to go to Canada go visit. The end.

We know it's cold (although probably not much colder than Michigan). We know you've got mounties. We know you've got casinos and theater in Toronto.
We think Canadians say words like "Ay" and "Hoser", drink beer, and watch hockey.
Oh, we also think Canada has a socialist government and that Canadians spell words like "color" with a "u".
Oh yeah, I almost forgot the thing every Michigan resident knew at 18. Canada has a lower legal drinking age.
I'm not trying to be mean here, but doesn't Canada like its visitors from Michigan (or at least our money)?

I know a little bit, but that's because I used to live up in Minnesota. (or in your case down) lol. Anyways, it is true that some people are completely un-aware of other places but most of the time I think people have a general understanding.

Ummm, it's, like, north of us, isn't it?
See I do know something about Canada.
But seriously, no we don't learn a lot about Canada, or Mexico, or Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, or most of the rest of the world. Unless we go out to learn it on our own.
