A eunuch can be either a castrated man or, in ancient terms, any man who is impotent with women for a wide variety of reasons. The earliest records for intentional castration to produce eunuchs are from the Sumerian city of Lagash in the 21st century BCE. Over the millennia since, they have performed a wide variety of functions in many different cultures such as courtiers or equivalent domestics, treble singers, religious specialists, government officials, military commanders, and guardians of women or harem servants.
The deliberate induction of male hypogonadism by castration was practised from ancient times for various reasons. The Bible (Matthew 19, 12) states "there are eunuchs which were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs which made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake". The latter reference to the desirability of celibacy and chastity was taken only too literally by some early theologians (eg, Origen, c185-254), who castrated themselves for their religious beliefs. In countries of the Middle East and Far East it was most often done to provide eunuchs as guardians of the harems, and the practice persisted until the present century; the last eunuch of the Chinese imperial court died as recently as December, 1996.
There are even males who are castrated at a young age in order to avoid having their voice change by puberty which is/was sactioned by some christian sects.

Eunuchs are male guardians of mistresses and wives of ancient arabs kings/rich men. they were castrated since they were small and were practically slaves and lead a sad life as they are not really male nor female. practically they have small bodies, hairless body and woman-like voice. their manner is also gentle and more like female. there are no more eunuchs nowadays, those living are from yesteryears - which is good because the transformation from boy to eunuchs is so cruel and bloody that from ten boys selected as potential eunuchs, only one will survive and live to tell the story!
