Yes they can shut off your utilities, they just care that you didn't pay your bill, not that you have a baby. If you have a baby, prioritize your expenses. Some utility companies also have budget plans where you only pay so much per month, and the excess gets made up later. For instance, your winter heating bill would be pared down and spread through the summer, etc. Contact your utility company. In the mean time, try to borrow money from someone, friend, relative, etc if the utility company won't work with you.
And this is going to sound mean, but y'know, breast milk is always warm. If you're that poor, you should have considered that it's also free and formula is expensive.

If you don't pay your bill they can shut it off. You need to call the company and make arrangements to make payments to get the bill paid down. If you have lived in your place for at least a year you may be able to get on the budget plan where you pay a certain ammount each month. The only exception to not getting your power shut off is if your child is on a ventilator, or someone else is on one or some other medical device that requires power and you have to have documentation from a doctor.

Take your shutoff notice to Salvation Army or any local church, they will help you with the money owed, food & clothes.
There is also a program from most power companys, called equil payment plan. You will end up paying the same ammount every month, it will help you budget whatever money you have coming in.

I have had that exact same experience contact some local churches about benevolent funding, your township trustee, salvation army etc,
if you or you child or family member who resides in your home has a medical situation get ahold of your utility companies and ask them to send your dr a medical neccessity letter they will turn your utilities back on after receiving the documentation,at least mine did.
My thought & prayers are with you!!

If you don't address the problem, it could cause you to be charged with child neglect.
Shut off your cable, and internet if you have it. Learn to live without these luxuries.
Go to food pantries for food. If you are on welfare they will put you on ;vendor payments'; and your check will go directly to rent, and electricity.
You may want to get help through the DSS...with budgeting etc. If they see you making an effort to adress your issues, they are less likely to take your child away.

Yes. Utility companies don't care about who lives in your home.
Assuming you're unemployed, I suggest you look for some work and apply for ALL living assistance programs ASAP.
Either that and/or move in with relatives who can be of help.
Hurry.....before they cut off your power--and you can't read anymore suggestions. Good luck. Take care.
