i don't know about tao, because i went there with a bachelorette party and we stayed at the venetian. but, as far as pure goes...
we went there during the day and there is usually a host sitting outside the club. we asked to get on the vip list and they put a reservation under my name with the number of people i was bringing. i had guys and girls in my party and none of us paid to get in. make sure you get there about 1 hour before they tell you too. you have to stand outside the club and they make you stand there for quite awhile, but there are about 1000 people trying to get into the club, so you want to be up front. then they have security walk through and take your name and let you in. if you buy a table with bottle service (approx $300 - $400) then you are the first people to get in. if you have a lot of people going with you, this is the way to go. remember if you are going to drink more than one bottle, preparty at the casino where you get free drinks while gambling. you don't spend as much at the club that way.

Gamble a lot of money. If you're a high roller who plays $500 a hand at blackjack, $5 slots, etc, the casino hostess will get you into any club or show you want for "free" and probably move you to the front of the line to get in. Money gets you everywhere in Vegas!
Staying in the hotel where the club you want to go to is located might also get you in quickly. Ask the hotel staff; they may be able to pull some strings for you.
Otherwise, expect to wait in line like everybody else.

I don't know about those clubs but one club I went to, I first went to their web site and signed up for their email list. Then I got an invitation for VIP passes as long as I got in before 10 pm. We got there at 9:50 and walked right in... and FOR FREE!

For Tao-- Gamble at venetian and ask to talk tot the casino host-- tell the casino host you want on the list
Pure-- call and tell them you are famous and want ont he list

huge waste of money......there is so much to do/see in Las Vegas...I wouldn't waste my time and cash at these clubs that force you to drop a wad on bottles of booze....
