Antarctica is a continent, there is much more to see than in the North Pole, but both places seems to be breathtakingly beautiful.
I had been planning for years a trip to Antarctica, the only problem is the price.
For instance, did you know that in Antarctica there is an active volcano?
During winter is practically impossible to arrive there unless with a scientific or military base. Most of the activities are organized in summer, due to the wild winds and the extreme cold.
In the Antarctica coast you will find sea lions, penguins of course, and whales. As far as I know one of the differences is that closer to the North Pole you can find Polar Bears, that are not living in the Antarctica.
If I would have the chance, I would choose to go to Antarctica and if you would like to be in a magnetic or geographic pole, it is always possible to visit the South Pole.
The stars look completely different in the southern hemisphere, in very dark nights you will be able to see the Via Lactea, a wonderful bright stripe of stars that crosses the sky in the middle.
If you decide to go there, get good shoes, some good quality gear for the wind and be ready to have the experience of your life.

North Pole. It's not quite so cold and there's polar bears and Inuits and reindeer and Canadians and stuff. The south pole (Antarctica, for that first guy who seems a tad confused), is an icen desert with some research stations and a whole mess of penguins. Penguins are cool, but not that cool.

I think that Antarctica is more accessible, and probably has better attractions, ie penguins and such. The North Pole is actually more barren, and you're better off going to Barrow or someplace in the Laplands, rather than going to the actual pole.
