capitalism is an economic ideology based on laissez faire or free trade. it espouses freedom trade through healthy competition and equity. you can better understand it in comparison with communism, also know as the classless society, which is also an economic ideology which believes in equality absence of competition.
you see, in capitalism, businesses, corporations and even people, compete to get better salaries, jobs, rankings in the society. most of the businesses are privately owned. and each family gets only what they work for. so, if a person works as a secretary, he gets less that a person who works as a lawyer. however, in communism, the government owns all businesses and, there is no competition; such that, a person who works as a janitor gets the same subsidy from the government, as a person who works as a teacher in private school. communism may look nice, but don't be decieved. the only way for communism to take effect is by bloodshed. (through the destruction of the private sector) why? because clearly, those who hold power, can't be expected to just give up their power, right?
