Try Tistan & Isolde starring James Franco. Tristan is a brave warrior fighting for England in a battle against Ireland. He's thought to be dead but is rescued & nursed back to health by Isolde. Isolde is the daughter of King Donnchadh, the ruler of Ireland. The two fall into forbidden love. There are epic battle scenes without all the gore of an action film. This should be one that you both can enjoy!

My husband enjoyed "The Wedding Singer" because it was funny and had a good soundtrack (plus he fancies Drew Barrymore) - it's a good crossover film for guys and girls.
He also quite liked "Bridget Jones' Diary" and the sequel. Again, funny, a good cast, and they show lots of boob and bum to get the guys in.
We both enjoyed the new "King Kong" which has plenty of action and special effects, but is also a love story.
Getting him to watch anything romantic is a real struggle, so hopefully your boyfriend can also watch the occasional love story and enjoy it.
