need to know where the wires go on the starter and also where the wiring to the distributor also gets connected. got the tuck running but now wont stop running till i smother the carb with a towel

the wires going to the starter solenoid should come from the ignition switch you should have have a single wire that goes on when the ignition is turned on and goes off when you turn it off hopefully this will help

If you have it running, it must be starting, so wires to the starter and the distributor are the least of your worries. The ignition switch would be a good place to start. When you turn the key off, the switch opens the high side of the circuit to the ignition side (as well as the acc. and start sides) so if it does not turn off at that position, you have a false feed around the switch or a bad switch that isn't opening.

why keep chancing on ruining your truck. Borrow a manuel from the library and fix it right the first time.
