Yes, but only a few. I believe that it is caused due to positive and negative energies that are beyond the scope of understanding by science.

The 'walking under a ladder thing' started in northern Europe, and its purpose was that the only time a latter was used, that was big enough to walk under, was for getting a body off the lynching pole. If one were to walk under it, they would meet death.

Friday the 13th...Friday was considered to be a bad day any time of the year. The 13th...the unlucky number had, again little to do with early christians too. In fact most of Central Europe, being mainly christian at the time, Friday the 13th meant nothing to them. Tuesday the 13th was the worst day of the year.

The term 'bless you' came from Egypt about 600 years before your claim. Tyberius Caesar would roam the city and bless all whom would sneeze, because of a sickness.

Salt was considered to be a pure substance. There are many superstitions involving salt. Evil spirits lurk over the left shoulder and if salt was spilt then the person who did the act was open for attack by the spirit.

Black Cats... The Goddess Bias was many colors, and the fear of the cat....not black cat, just cat, came years before Christians took over Europe. In Druid Celtics belief, the cat was a dark and evil verminous creature. If a black, or other cat was to walk to you, this was a good omen, if it were to walk away from you, this was bad.

The ladybug was considered a good omen centuries before Christ was thought of in most of Europe. It meant a good crop and if you killed one, your crop was sh*t.

When I was a child in Alberta, 20 years ago, no one dared open an umbrella in the house. It was said that doing so would cause a death in the family. Someone was always around who knew of a case where someone had opened an umbrella in the house and someone else had died.

Surprise! Now I have been living in UAE for 11 years and no one thinks about the open umbrella superstition. In fact, it is common for people (including me) to leave them open to dry in a corner of a room. Of course, my generation was the first to have the benefit of antibiotics and other effective treatments to prevent sudden death from diseases which were always lurking nearby.

We must not forget how different things are today from the way they were when a superstition was formed.

Not always, but yes there are some superstitions which family traditions have imbibed in us, i dont know how far they're true but i tend to follow them, and i cannot fet rid of them even when i want to.My mother used to tell me, that before going out for something important if someone suddenly stops u or calls u back, means work's not done, although i have never followed it, but it usually so happens that either the job's not accomplished or i face difficulties.

I'll never look in a mirror between 5:00 AM AND 6:34 PM because my face burns. I only eat eggs on Tuesdays. I take showers only for 3 minutes and 33 seconds. I rub my feet on Wednesday nights while in my garage while sitting on fresh (only fresh) watermelon while listening to I walk the line by Johnny Cash.

Yeah but sometimes in reverse (i believe white cats are the ones you don't want crossing your path and Fri the 13th is a great day-Tues the 13th is the day you should just stay in bed)

Some. They say you shouldn't continue on your road if a black cat crosses it in front of you. I was driving once and ignored it then just a few feet ahead my tire popped. Superstition? Maybe. Better safe than sorry though.

How come many can believe in a silly superstition yet can't believe in God?
Hmmmm, strange that one because most superstitions bring bad luck and they believe in it, believing in God is full of love but it is impossible for some to find faith in that thought, but if walk under a ladder will get bad luck, yeah but only because they believe it and bringing their own bad luck to them. Why not believe in something that fills you with love and light?

No, I believe in God, I believe in my heart and I believe for tomorrow
God Bless You

Superstitions: An irrational perception that an merchandise, action, or situation no longer logically on the subject count of a direction of activities impacts its effect. i think of for many little issues which contain walking below a ladder or breaking a mirror many human beings have forgotten why they are even undesirable success yet we bear in mind the main considerable factor that it is undesirable success. which you are going to be dazzling that your pal is superstitions in the event that they do no longer understand why they perception such issues. yet do understand that those issues have a reason as to why we stick to them. walking below a ladder, if im no longer fallacious, has to do with breaking the holy trinity (the ladder has a triangle). The reducing of nails, truthfully, I have no theory. My only wager is that "evil comes out at evening" as human beings continuously say and then your nail clippings could be enthusiastic with reference to tips from a witch and then curse you. lol extremely stupid. So for many human beings, those are no longer supertitions yet somewhat ideals. we've a reason we don't walk below ladders, why we attempt to no longer wreck residing house windows, why we conceal mirrors while somebody dies, why we've a horse's shoe over the door or why we shoo away black moths from the residing house. As a non secular individual, I do stick to lots of those ideals yet only while i understand why. because of fact that i do no longer understand the intending to all of them, i dont hassle on it and so i do no longer hassle with them. while i understand the reason at the back of it, it pushes me to stay with them because of fact I won't have the means to shake it off. lol and that's once you hassle approximately it which you upload to it as nicely. nicely wish this allows, Shadow hurricane

Some of it, just to be on the safe side of course-like walking under a ladder and spilling salt, oh and the never rock a empty cradle or it will soon be filled. (I did do it any way though, so we shall see!)
