I think it's too soon... so it seems like it's a little in bad taste. The only thing is that Oliver Stone is directing it, and he wrote one of my favorite movies (Scarface) and directed another one (Any Given Sunday), so hopefully he will do a good job.
And I don't think the families are getting any money.

1. It's one tiny story out of all the lives that were affected that day.
2. It's important to get some truth and perspective on the event instead of viewing it as this grandiose, abstract thing. There's too much controversy surrounding the event to let it just sit.
3. All the people I personally have heard saying "it's too soon" so far have zero personal connection to the tragedy. Everybody start watching Rescue Me on FX.
It's something that's a part of our culture, and that's what they make movies about. Apparently, it's not too soon to make movies about the Gulf War. And, they've been making documentaries about 9/11 pretty much since day one. How is that any better?
Edit: Everyone before me said the family isn't getting any money. Which is probably true. My only question is...how do you feel about Ann Coulter?

Eh... too soon. I highly doubt the spouses and families would get any money out of the movie. They're all going to relieve their memories of losing a loved one--even if they don't watch the movie. The trailer is gonna be flooding the television and I'm sure there's gonna be billboards out to help advertise the movie. Plus the movie might even offend people that had been affected by the tragic event.

Just another topic for hollywood to make money from...
reminds me of mel gibson making a movie about jesus. do you really think jesus, the man who said, get rid of all your posessions would like to know that he became a posession of millions of people. It's just ridiculous.
I know.. I know... 9/11. Different right?
Only this time it's not a guy on a cross, it's thousands of people dying in a building that represented the heart of america.
Why? All this for money. Hollywood... Maybe even government purposes of getting us more involved in war. And I won't even get into that.. I know it's a touchy subject. Nevertheless, it could be propaganda. You never know. Noone knows. But why go watch a movie about it when you can contribute instead of watching and crying about it. You can contribute to making this world a better place. Turn off your TV.. stop spending your 8.50 cents on movies and give it to something that means something like a charity for starving children. Us Americans.. we love our entertain ment. I understand. I love it too. But.. this movie? entertainment? I just don't know about that. What about the movie that got great ratings "Who killed the electric car?" but is only shown in small theatres. Yes.. what happened to this great movie that showed that an electric car existed that would run just as good as one that runs on oil. Do you think our rich friends in hollywood and the government wanted everyone to see that movie? No way. This world revolves around the mighty dollar. No matter what bled shed must take place, no matter what crimes need to be committed, it is what is in each person's pocket at the end of the day that matters most. That's what hollywood and the government believe. Yet we worship the actors, and we think our government is fairly decent (no matter which party we pick). Yes, some of them must be decent.. some must not be crooked. But they're all rich! you've forgotten this fact. It's whats in their pockets.. not what's in their hearts! Do you really want to go see this movie? Not me. And let me guess... somewhere it will probably say that donations are going from this movie to 9/11 victims familys? That's just a guess of mine. Do you really think that's where the money is going? Please. Noone makes such an elaborate movie unless they know some of the money goes to fund their Yacht and exotic car collections, their lear jets and their fancy shoes and big cigars and home entertainment systems, and mansions and other BS things that make the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. Don't trust your eyes.

I don't think it's too soon. I do not know if the families are getting any money, but I would think that those involved with the making of it would be getting some kind of royalties. I want to see it.

in the trailer on t.v. it says "based on a true story"...ok if u did not know what happend on 9/11 with the twin towers than i think you have a problem or you've been living under a rock fro the past 6 years!!
i think it's ok to make the movie though...it's not too soon, or at least i don't think it is. but i wasn't totally affected by it because i didn't know anyone who was actually affected by it, but if i was, my answer might be different!

it's too soon. it's gonna recharge some racism and perpetuate a climate of fear and devisiveness in this country,
on the other hand- i think documentaries and docu-dramas are good in the sense that they help preserve history. but they should be done tastefully, truthfully, and objectively show all sides of the story.
it's too soon.
