rms is written in the boxes of pc speakers... like 15rms. but how many watts is 15 rms?

RMS is root mean square. For AC voltages and currents, the instantaneous voltage and current changes, so the RMS is used as an effective value (equivalent to DC). When RMS current and voltage are multiplied, you get AVERAGE power, which is useful because the instantaneous power is changing with the voltage and current. I've never heard of RMS applied to power.

In any case, you don't say an RMS is some number of watts. Think of rms as a fancy average.

Doesn't RMS just mean the amount of continuous power as opposed to peak power so 15rms = 15 watts rms.
