Well flying bugs need to be hit with the fly swatter. Then the bugs that just stay on the ground like spiders need to be squashed with either your shoe or maybe you could just pick it up with a paper towel and make a tight fist then throw it out.

I stick a long pin through the tresspassing insect and stick it to the wall. Then I hold a flame under the pin so I can watch them squirm in agony. After a while they die and I throw them away.
