I am 16 weeks pregnant with my first child. I am kinda built small, and not really showing. When I went to the doctor today, the nurse seemed to be concerned that I haven't really felt my baby moving. I mean I could have, but I really don't pay attention. Sometimes I am not sure what is the baby and what is just normal internal movement. Should I be concerned that I am not feeling my babay yet??
Also, the doctor also was concerned about my weight gain. I have only gained 4 pounds so far. The doctor said I should at least have gained close to 10 pounds by now. Has anyone else lost weight or gained it slowly like this??

Don't worry one bit about not feeling the baby moving yet. You'll start by feeling something like a flutter in a few weeks and you'll feel more obvious movements at about 20 weeks...on average.
As far as the weight gain goes. It varies based upon how you're built to begin with. Here's a site that explains below. The way I understand it, a pound a week during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters is desireable for someone that's built small like you. Just make sure you don't try to diet while pregnant so your baby will be a good healthy size when born.

If it is a first baby, you may not feel anything until 20 weeks...usually it is between 18-20 weeks for first feeling movement. So do not worry about that. As for the weight gain, if you were underweught to begin with you are expected to gain a bit more. The baby needs the extra calories to grow properly. Just be sure you eat good, nutritious food and not junk. Some people do not gain very much during pregnancy and others gain a lot. If your doctor says to eat more of something, just try your best to do it. Many women lose weight for the first 12 weeks and then begin to gain so i think it is not too bad that you only gained 4 pounds so far. Just be sure to take care of yourself. Good luck with the baby!

I didn't feel my first child kick till almost 20 weeks. That's normal. I kept feeling what I thought might be kicking, but it was only my intestines...then when I felt the baby really kick I passed that off as regular belly rumbling.
I wouldn't be too worried about the weight gain either...some people are alot slower to gain weight especially their first child. There's an excellent web page http://www.pregnancy.org/ that has all kinds of charts on weight gain, baby growth, and development for you and the baby...check it out it's an excellent resource.

I heard of a test you can do. Sit down and just wait to feel your baby move 10 times. It should take approximately 1 hour so they say depending on the mother. If 2 hours goes by an you don't feel 10 movements then you may want to talk to your doctor. Just something I heard I thought I would pass on.

Not at all. Im 21weeks preg right now and just felt what i thiught was the baby yesterday, but am still not sure. Honey with all the new changes in your body going on (heart burn, indegestion, growing uteris) who knows whats going on!...Give it another 4-6 weeks before you worry to much about the movement thing.

I gained alot but i knew a girl who only gained 15 lbs throughout
her whole pregnancy. I was feeling my baby kick around
4 1/2 months so maybe he/she is and you cant yet feel it.
What ever you do get on a high quality vitamin/mineral
supplement, nothing synthetic..
A good one is called Catalyst made by Mannatech
the vitamins are taken from food and they use
carbohydrates to make it easier to absorb.
Also remember the baby NEEDS fat, has to have it.
So consume red meat, whole milk, fish/fish oil.
support the baby nutritionally and you will have
a happy healthy baby. Have they showed you
the baby on ultrasound?
Just make sure eat good quality food, make the
baby want for nothing nutritionally.
