'I shall follow you to the ends of the earth' Where are the ends of the earth? 'They came from all corners of the globe'. I didn't know a globe had corners. Why do people use these meaningless expressions??

LMAOOOOO!!! People use these expressions, because they don't think. Some are using phrases they've read or heard before.

And no, you're not pedantic. You just look through a larger glass than most people and that causes you to notice & take interest in things, many wouldn't. i find it insightful and humorous, not trivial :-)

These are cliches. Stay away from them. If you have a passion for language, create your own. It's far more impressive. B
