In which would it be more painless to get a tattoo. My hip or my back. Both area's have about the same amount of fat. Does fat decrease the pain?

It doesn't really matter. Every body's pain tolerance is unique and different. Fat does make a difference somewhat but pain tolerance is something that varies from person to person and body location to location.
The only part of the body that hurts a lot to almost everybody is the ribcage. All other parts, some people say it does, some people say it doesn't.

Keep in mind that the pain usually is nothing like what you expect and in some shops they will tell you that if your worried about the pain, your not responsible or ready to get the tattoo.

Get the tattoo WHERE YOU WANT!, don't worry about the pain. If you get the tattoo in a location you don't really want, you'll regret it forever. Get a copy of your design, cut it out and put it on both locations, use tape. Look in the mirror and decise where it looks the best.

It feels like a dull scratching, or like a numb itchy feeling. I personally think getting your eyebrows waxed hurts more, but getting a tattoo lasts longer.

Bring a magazine, or a book to read.

Well, I think the back is less painful only because I have one there and it wasn't very painful. I have 6 and the one that hurt, I mean HURT, was the one I just got done on the top right side of my left foot. There was no fat there and the skin is just, you know, right over your bones there. So I would say if you have boney hips ( not trying to be ugly) yes thats gonna hurt, but if you are a little thick, I think it would be 50/50.

I have tattoos on my stomach, my foot, and my shoulder blade.
The stomach hurt the worst. Next would be the foot.
The back would be less painless because the skin is more tender on the hip. Fat definitely does not decrease the pain.
=)

The more fat the less pain... Although you can now get numbing solutions over the counter at chemists...try that it would help more than where to put it. BTW remember tattoo's are forever so make sure you pick the perfect one for the perfect place that you love.... Good luck.

Your back would hurt more than you hip and fat doesnt decrease the pain it is where your skin is closer to the bone and more sensitive like your ankle hurts its right on the bone

Part of getting a tattoo is feeling the pain. Don't try to avoid it.
Also, really think about whether you really want to mark your body for the rest of your life.

I have one on my back its almost the entire back that didnt hurt at all, but I also haveo ne on my foot and that didnt hurt either, but they say its the worst place to get one. So it depends on ur pain tolerance. Im getting one on my hip soon. I would pick your back before hip tho

Finger tips, the soft part (inside)of your arms and legs, lips, tongue, are some of the most painfull area.
I wouldnt do it anywhere.
Try doing the kind that is painted on, and can be remove.

it hurts anywhere i think a little more on the back.. try rubbing a nail on certain areas where you would like to get one and see what hurts the most.
