Lean business practices, first developed by Toyota, are being adopted by many US companies today. Have you heard of it, or has the company you work for been through a Lean transformation? If so, how long did it take and how is it going?

Ya, I been through it. They were still pretty fat even after a year of trying to go lean(when I left). Yet sometimes production would halt for lack of stupid materials that we would usually never run out of. Bad management I think.

I think they will eventually get it right but they're still using old school dumb terminals running DOS based inventory software. And the managers had been there since those things were brand new.

Seriously, you need have up-to-date management and up-to-date tech if you think you'll ever run lean and not run it too lean.

That's the trend I think there is a Six Sigma program, check it out. It looks good on the resume.

Oh Yes,
Many U.S. company's are getting lean.
Firing their employees and sending all production to China.
