remember folks think with your head and not with your heart...she told Rusty (husband) that she wasn't right...and that she want'd to kill herself. She has a brain that is chemically imbalanced and got worse with every pregnancy...untill that 6th child and she lost it. if you were rusty would you leave your kids with a admitted insane person? And keep having kids with this person...and leave them to be home schooled with this person knowing how unstable they are? come on!! doctors had her on three meds cause she was just that bad. She should have been removed from her home and kids after the second kid when she said she felt suicidal. what do you think?
Here in Houston a lot of new facts comming out...

1)Yes we all know she did it, 2) If your not able to keep your head clear of voices telling you to kikk how are you supposed to make rational decisions, 3)and to the person who asked how dare I blame Rusty...he was obviously the only sane adult in the house!! He took her to the Dr. who told him to make sure that most of the interaction supervised...hello daycare, nanny, babysitter...he is an engineer at NASA he has the money!

Andrea Yates is guilty of intentionally and methodically killing her children. She has a psychiatric disorder and it is unfortunate that the seriousness of her illness was not addressed. Somehow, Andrea fell through the looking glass. My question is, and has been, why was Rusty not charged as an accessory to the fact. He was as responsible for the safety and welfare of those children as Andrea. No one will ever convince me that there were no warnings in her personality prior to that terrible moment. Those five children died by Andrea's hand but they were murdered by a system that failed (medical, mental health, family, husband, friends). All are guilty!

She's definitely guilty! But I also blame Rusty. According to an article i read in a Houston periodical (I can't remember exactly which) right after this happened, it stated that Andrea was on Haldol and she went off it "upon Rusty's insistence" so she could get pregnant with Mary. I hold him just as responsible. She OBVIOUSLY had a hard enough time raising the 4 children she already had and this bastard insists on making her situation even worse!
HE KNEW SHE WAS NOT IN HER RIGHT MIND TO TAKE CARE OF HER CHILDREN!!!

Guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty. That's one for each innocent life she took. If she really felt that she was going to do something harmful, she should have made an effort to tell someone else if her husband wasn't listening. How dare anyone try to pin this on her husband? She had the choice to stop having children. She had the choice to call for help. Insanity is an easy way out. She knew the difference between right and wrong. She methodically killed her own children. She needs to pay for what she did.

Is there any question of her guilt? She had a responsibility to get birth control or abstain if she felt she was not capable of parenting her children. She had a responsibility to call 911 on herself when she was chasing her child through the house as he attempted to escape her grasp in the bathroom. She had a responsibility to sign herself into a psychiatric hospital if she felt that way. Why is it his responsibility to babysit an adult woman? Yes, he probably overlooked how serious it had become, but it's not fair to blame him for what she did. How was he supposed to know? Plus, what if he quit his job to stay home? People would complain that the family was a drain on the Public Aid system. It's easy to stand in judgment after the fact. It's much harder to help someone before they reach that point of no return. Regardless, there is no question of her guilt.

Well in order to be found guilty in most states (I don't know about Texas) you have to 1) be competent to stand trial and 2) not mental insane at the time the alleged crime was committed. I doubt if she's competent, and I strongly suspect that she was / is mentally insane. Of course, I'm not a lawyer or a judge, and there are no doubt details and points of law of which I'm not familiar, but that's my layman's take on it.

If you did the crime, you're guilty. Maybe she was mentally handicapped and maybe her husband shouldn't have left the kids with her. In that case he should be charged as an accessory. But it's still no excuse for drowning five kids in the bathtub. That is just f**ked up.

She's still guilty even if she is crazy. Besides I think that is used as an excuse these days to be able to do what you want and not have to pay for it.

Here is the issue at hand... she knew that she was not right? correct? She asked for help. Correct? She knew she was suicidal, she knew she was suffering why didn't she WALK OUT ON HER CHILDREN INSTEAD OF KILLING THEM. It's just like shaken baby syndrome, crying is irritating and you get overwhelmed, what do you do? WALK AWAY

i know some people will not like this but...she killed her children; innocent, defenseless children....yeah her husband didnt listen to her and try to get her help...but she drowned each of them one by one....if it were a stranger with a mental disorder everyone would not doubt that that person should be put to death....beacuse of her 5 precious souls were taken from this earth...i hope she rots in hell
