I wonder if they performed the test incorrectly and the wires were not in correct position and rather than repeat the ekg and then end up doing the stress test anyway - the doc decided to go ahead with the stress test. Just guessing tho based on an experience of mine: I had a stress test with echo and after I got done the doc said it was too bad he wasn't using the new machine that the hospital had because he couldn't get the proper readings that he wanted on his machine. And after I ran my tail off!

I wouldn't worry about it. Take the stress test. It's a better diagnosis and something anyone with concerns should be willing to take.

All kinds of things can make EKGs give strange readings. Don't worry about it unless the doc says you need to. Chances are any symptoms will be early symptoms that are fairly manageable when you know about them.

Nearly everything with the heart short of advanced heart disease can be managed. The docs are erring on the side of caution and that's good for you.

have they told you what the nuclear stress test involves? you will be injected with a drug called thallium, which is a radioactive substance. you will be attached to the EKG machine. you will exercise, and after the exercise, you will be photographed with an x-ray machine so they can get pictures of your heart. after this first part of the test is over, you can go home for 3 hours or so, but wont be allowed to drink caffeine, exercise, chocolate, sodapop, etc. then you will come back and get more thallium injected into you, and more pictures will be taken with the x-ray.

Don't worry too much, get your stress test and get your answers. Many, many people have these every day. Try not to "stress" (pun intended) about it too much. Good Luck, and God Bless.
