How can I increase the number of my genuine friends...without spending too much on clubbing, eating out etc?

I am seeking more long-term friends, genuine and people who can be there at all seasons. I am a 31 single, African living in Australia Pursuing a Masters degree. I would like more friends from all over the world.

i'm also grad student and i find it hard to even find the time to go out. does your school have international student org? that may be a good way to learn about cultures as well as to meet ppl.
