I had a chef like him when I was going through culinary school and I can honestly say that they make the best teachers. I put up with a lot of crap and abuse, but only when I didn't perform my tasks correctly. I learned to take it with a grain of salt. You have to understand that in the culinary field, there is no room for error or tardiness. Also, most of the people on that show went into it knowing little to nothing about the culinary business - they deserve to be set straight. Being a chef is no easy task.

I'm addicted to this show. I definitely would have a hard time with the verbal abuse and would probably tell him to F off. But it is for a billion dollar resort restaraunt so i guess they put up with his antics. I wouldn't be surprised out of the last 5 that somebody tells him off before its all said and done with. I hope so, would love to see it.

I've worked in high end kitchens, and Gordon's nothing special. "Throw on the **** veal you **********" is being rather polite.
If you want a good idea of what working in a kitchen is like, read "Kitchen confidential" by Anthony Bourdain. The entire time I was reading that I was trying to find where he hid the cameras to video tape the kitchens I've worked in

Well, I think a lot of us would want to yell back at him, but he's probably more intimidating in real life. Besides, the contestants want to win a restaraunt, so pissing off the boss probably isn't a good idea.
That ***** Sara is still there...
But Garret is gone! Damnit! He was my favorite chef...

I'm sure you would. It's easy to say that knowing that you'll never be in that situation....the ******* ego on some people. If you actually were in that situation, I'd be willing to bet that not only would you take what he said with out any action on your part, but you'd thank him as well.
