Your English will improve. Unless you find a chinatown which the chinese seem fond of and if you decide to spend your whole stay in Australia in a Chinatown.
I'm from the Philippines, there are some chinese in the philippines who are born and grew old in the country, but never got out of chinatown and consequently, never knew either english or the Filipino language.

There are Chinese everywhere. Just like there are Japanese, Americans, Hmong, Vietnamese, Russians, French, Irish, Welsh, English, Canadians, French Canadians, Mexicans, Africans, Hindus, Iranians, Iraqi, Jews, Muslims.........people of all nationalities living in all countries in the world. If your goal is to improve your English, while attending school in Australia, my advice to you is to NOT confine all of your human interaction with your Chinese brethren. Expand your mind and open yourself up to meeting and interacting with English speaking people as much as you do with those that speak Chinese.
I've observed that some people find it easier, not necessarily better, to stick with their "own kind." I am someone who loves meeting people of all nationalities and walks of life and I whole-heartedly suggest that you embrace different people you meet at school. Open your eyes and mind and ignore the people that may tell you you won't get any benefit from going to Australia to improve your English. You can learn, improve on, benefit from the adventure so much more than you would by staying home.
Good luck and have fun!!!

There are a lot of Asians studying in Australia and NZ but that shouldn't put you off studying there.
Try to avoid spending too much time with people from your language group and make friends with as many different folks as possible. You can share knowledge and tell people about your culture as well as learn about your new environment.
Studying in another country is fun!

I work at Curtin University in Perth Western Australia and a good percentage of our students are Asian. It would be up to you and beneficial for you to mix with other students. That is the only way you will improve your English. If you mix with only Asian it is likely your English skills will not improve at all. Come over and give it a try, you have nothing to loose and everything to gain. Good luck.

Yes there are many, if you associate with Chinese, shop with Chinese and speak in Chinese then your English wont get better. However if you make an effort and move outside your comfort zone and mix with native Australians then your English will get better. it is up to you

Australians speak English..kinda..;)
there are lots of Asians Down Under, and that's good because it's like a home away from home, but you should try and mix with some of the locals and speak English more while there. It helps a lot.
Have fun!
