Depends on what you mean by overreact. Do you mean would I kill them? In all probability, no I would not.
It also depends on why they beat me up. If I deserved it, say for having sex with their wife or something like that, I might just chalk it all up to karma.
However If they did so for wanting my wallet I would do everything in my power to have them incarcerated. I'm sure a few years or so in the pokey is worth an @$$ beating, or two. After having to toss the first few salads I'm sure they'd wish they'd made a different choice.
