As I was wrapping up my time at Northern Michigan University, approaching college graduation, I was friends with this one girl. She and I did a lot together, like go out for ice cream and talk until after midnight. After graduation, we kept talking to each other, but one night, she snapped over AIM, in essence, calling me a creep and accusing me of tying my happiness to her. Since that night, I've been trying to find the boundaries with other people, but I've had to keep my relationships awfully cold to avoid crossing the line.

Don't worry, things like this DO happen. The best thing to know in this case is to understand that there are many people in the world. People like this girl, people unlike this girl, and many more. With all these personalities, you can be sure that you won't have to worry about being cold with everyone. Simply tell the girl how you truly feel, and tell her how exactly your relationship with her was - just a friendship. A very good friendship based on what you told here, but just a friendship nonetheless. Also, in the future, analzye people before making a move into being their friend or not. You can learn much through observation.
Hope that helps!

Firstly, no two people are the same: and it's awfully hard to understand what makes them `tick' as the saying goes. Never mind: don't pin yourself down to this one experience: she obviously had some kind of hang-up......possibly not even SHE understood what was wrong! So, leave it behind you; where it belongs, and move forward. Do not treat each new acquaintance as though it will happen again; maybe you'll have more experiences; that's human nature; but don't go putting it there before it's happened, or you'll push yourself down!
There really are some well mannered people out there, honest!
Good luck with your life!

Unless you were seriously stalking her, I think maybe it was just her. Maybe she felt uncomfortable and instead of talking to you about it, like most human beings would, she decided to be a freak about it.
I dont think you have to worry, respect peoples wishes, and check for body language if they look uncomfortable, looking away..fidgeting etc, that will be your cue. Most people though would let you know like hey...I just want xyz from you, and nothing more. Or I like it when we xyz, but I dont want you to get the wrong idea.
Good Luck :o)

Sounds more like she had the problem, not you. Don't let one bad experience put you off for others that may be different and exciting.
