Does anyone know what other contractors use for time/record keeping. I need a program that I can enter the job name, description, hours performed and date. I would also like it to add up the hours for me and be able to give me a list of jobs done. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Excel would work for this, but it could become cumbersome - depending on the size of your company and type of reporting you would need. There is a fre customer relations managment system called freecrm.com that might do the trick for you. I am not affliated with this company in any way - just use it for my business. You can later on choose to pay for the advanced featers.

Take a look and see what you think. Also, I am the co-owner of a marketing firm - if you need any assistance with marketing your company, let me know. I would be glad to write a proposal and see what we can come up with.

Best of luck to you.

I'm not in the contractors business or know what type of software they use. But if your familiar with Microsoft Excel, it can do what you had described above. But you'll need to know how to use excel and know how to make formulas cuz it will add up hours for you.

just a spreadsheet on almost any word proccessing program would do the trick. the most impressive would probably be Excel. once you master all the different features you can make it do, it will be almost self run

I think that the best application for that would be Microsoft Project.
