I am sorry you are in that horrible situation. The new bankruptsy laws only serve the debtors who !) make it too easy to get credit,2) charge outragous interest and penalties etc. They are going to suck the life out of us! I would think you could contest it for the time being. If you are at poverty level, which it sounds like you are, I would think you could have it delayed by citing a "hardship". Find your local "legal aid" department, or seek out attornies who do "pro-bono" work for people who cannot pay for the advise-and there are many lawyers who do that kind of work in every city, and I think someone could help you out.

Well, I don't know yet, but I plan on finding out. I too have an elementary child & a job that I can't even pay for all my living expenses let alone an ambulance bill that has went up to $600 from years ago. I JUST got a letter saying my wages were going to be garnished starting Aug 14. This is insane surely there Is something to do besides filing bankruptcy ( which I can't even afford to do!) if your ( or mine or any ones) wages are below a certain level....... I'll let you know what I find out after I make some calls 2morrow...sorry not more help right now but I DO know how u feel thats for sure. Good luck.

You need to get a hold of the department that is in charge of your garnishment and ask for a hearing. In California I believe we have laws that the amount cant be more than 15% of your pay. You may want to consult with the public defenders office or a local legal aid group. Good luck

Its hard, but the best thing i can think of if to put applications in rest intead of fast food. As a server you can make any where around 200 to 500 a week. The great benefit of working in a rest is that most work around ur sched and u make good money.

you ignored some form of communication at one point, which in turn lead to the garnishement, you can have the garnishment ammended or even removed, but that involves phonecalls, court ect.. to show hardship, then relief will be granted, but above all you must communiucate, garnishments are the end result of them ( the creditors ) trying to get a hold of you repeatedly while you put you head ( figurately ) in the sand

Sorry this has happened to you, but as long as your creditor is getting their money, they don't care.
Most people when faced with this situation either quit a job or go get as many as they need to keep up with everything.\
Actually, I don't know what you are being garnished for, but there is an actual LIMIT to the amount (percentage) they can garnish.
Find out what the law is in your state.

you pays it off. there is likewise a risk you ought to attraction the garnishment. you will would desire to discover the dazzling courtroom to report in, which might probable take hiring an criminal expert that focuses on credit/series concerns. And it might probable be greater much low cost to easily pay off the very own loan.

You might have to declare bankruptcy, but if you do it will destroy your credit ,if you have any, and will take several years before you can get a credit card or loan from a financial institution. You should really contact a lawyer in your area.
