I am 19 years old and I do not know how to drive. I would love to learn how to drive so I can be able to get to class and to work without depending on anyone else. But there is always the fear of getting lost, causing a wreck, or any other careless mistakes I could make when driving; so I never get the courage to actually get behind the wheel. Does anyone have any advice?

Do it. Get driving lessons if at all possible, but you won't get over the fear avoiding it. Once you start you will love the independance.

Find someone who is patient and get them to teach you to drive. I've been driving for the past 12 years and I still have fears of wrecking or something else going wrong. Just take it slow, and the best advice I got was if something doesn't feel right slow down, if it still doesn't feel right stop. This has worked for me several times when I couldn't see ahead of me because of glare.

get in and drive! Start with little steps. Soon enough, you'll be doing just fine. Get someone to take you to a BIG parking lot at an off hour, so you can get the idea of how to control the car!

just remember when you are behind the wheel you are in complete control. you can get out of or prevent any situation with your alert actions. just take your time in slecting what type of areas you first want to drive in. rural or low traffic areas are the best. the comfort while driving will only be achieved with practice.

I'm almost in the same situation.
I'm 15 and I have my permit but I'm so afraid to practice so I'm scared I'll never learn to drive and get my license.

Go to a empty parking lot, a country road, a deserted airport, or tear up someones field and practice.
