I don't like it. I don't think (most) people should be allowed to have guns.

I believe that some people have a legitimate use for guns (hunting
to survive), but the vast majority do not.

I believe that the second amendment was, on the whole a bad idea,
or at least badly stated - because one could argue that an atomic
bomb is an "arm" and therefore, individuals should be allowed to have them.

If you argue that that's not what the framer's had in mind, please remember
that the weapon of choice at the time was the cannon and the musket.

Its time that amendment was either rewritten to be clearer or removed.

I think the statistics on gun violence and who actually gets hurt the majority
of time speaks far more than anyone's repetition of "out of my cold dead
hands".

Charleton Heston isn't God. He didn't even play God. He played
Moses - and not very well.

Where I live you must go through a background investigation, with non-relative references that live in the same town to vouch for you and it costs over $100 just for the application and classes you MUST take to get a handgun license. So here there are two types of handgun owners - legitimate and responsible or criminal. No gray area. I'm not worried about handgun owners around here.

Rifles and shotguns? *Pfft* all you need is the money to pay for one and a picture ID showing residency! THAT worries me! I've been hit by a .30-06 round and almost died from it - the guy was drunk, owned a rifle and was being a jerk. He went to jail for 5-15 and I'm glad he did. Never had any problems with licensed gun owners.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The own it sometimes good when the reason is for safety and legally. But make sure you put it in the place that can not be reach by anyone else (especially kids). But I thin without it, we can still live safely.

I think as long as the person is not a total moron
he should be able to own a gun
so lets have some competency tests!

As an avid firearm enthusiast I don't like the fact that all my handguns need to be registered. If at any time the government decided to ban any or all firearms they know exactly what I have.

It is fine, provided that the owner knows how to use them and keeps them from getting into kid's hands.

If you don't like guns, don't get any. Just don't try and take mine away.

We own many guns, so I'd have to say I think it's great. All licensed of course. I love going to the shooting range. It's therapeutic.

A constitutional right and a real good idea. May I never need it to defend my person or property but it is the ultimate equalizer.
