I admit that, at times, I've gotten weary with Harry Potter

Not so much a book but a series - I'm a David and Leigh Eddings fan, but this latest series, the Elder Gods, is just tedious and I'm only staying with it to find out what happens. The characters split every now and again to do their separate things, but then they have to retell their deeds in detail to every character they rejoin with, so you hear each of their adventures so often that I just tend to skip pages at a time. There is also a lot of superfluous dialogue and trite "asides" between characters that just make the characters seem smug and add nothing to the plot. If he cut that out, the characters would be more likeable, and if he didn't keep repeating himself, he could have condensed the story from 4 books into one without too much of a problem.

It is a shame, because I didn't want the Belgariad or the Mallorean books to ever end, I enjoyed them so much.

Wives and Daughters. It a book for a Victorian Lit class that I read and wrote a paper on. It was about 650 pages and never ended because the author died, leaving it unfinished.

Ahhhhhh.....

The Hours - for such a short book, it is so boringly longwinded

David Copperfield - fantastic, yet somewhat long

The Stand - wish it had been twice as long!

Shardik - longwinded with pages filled with teeny tiny font - grrrr

Vanity Fair. Ugh! Had to read it in 11th grade. Finished it by the time I graduated...college. Just kidding, but it was a soap opera, for sure!
