Not all people do. Just deadbeats. Learn from this, and don't lend to those kind of people. There is a wise saying, "Neither a borrower nor a lender be." (Benjamin Franklin, I think). It's the best way to ruin a friendship.

They do not want to pay it back. It will be a chunk, however big or small they have to dish out. So they fool themselves by saying: well, he/she/they didn't ask for it yet, so they must not need it. Etc. etc. etc. How did they end up needing to borrow in the first place? Unless it was a true crisis (and usually, those people pay back) they mismanage their funds. IMO.

I hardly ever got paid back anytime I loaned money. It is best to say no unless it is someone that has helped you in the past then really you do owe them. But never expect to get the money back. You are giving it away not loaning it.
It's life.

Yes I have two or three right now!
They borrow and are nice as pie and now are cocky ...like I'll pay you when I get it.
Some people take kindness as weakness.
I live for retribution!

If they had it, they wouldn't have had to hit you up in the first place.
