i dont think its sad sasuke left sakura, because he has more important things in his mind besides finding love. he's still seeking revenge against his brother, he lost his whole clan for cryin out loud. he prolly loved her, but only as a friend. he prolly loves her as much as he cares for naruto. and yes his childhood was sad.

I have to admit a fascination with yaoi, so my answer will probably be biased...but...
Sasuke has never shown in any way that he loves Sakura. Cares for, maybe. And right now the overall "number one" one his mind is Itachi...he's obssessed with the guy.
But even if he wasn't, he wouldn't go after Sakura. He's much closer to Naruto. Yes, it's probably more in a friendly manner, but if Sakura can't even compete with Naruto on a friends basis, what makes anyone think Sasuke will LOVE Sakura?

Yeah he loves her.... but he has a mysterious and strange way of showing it. Aren't deep and scarred boys like that? Its very sad though that he left her because of that silly revenge of his. bad childhood really helped strengthen the barriers between them....*sigh*

as i've explained before he won't/can't love till he kills itachi. and his past was well by the time u see it ur used to sad past. It isn't sad that he left her what's sad is he went to oro-sennin and got the curse mark i think it'd be cooler if he went to akatsuki.
