20 years ago, the maxium number was 200 pages.
10 years ago, the maximum number was 600 pages.
But over the last 5 years, the number of pages has regressed to the point where only 200-400 pages is now considered the "upper limit" of the book-publishing spectrum. (Cost of printing and paper has gone up.)
In most cases, you won't find any "common" novel over 400 pages these days, unless that author has established him or herself well.

go more effective for word count number. web page huge variety differences plenty counting on formatting. i fairly do not imagine right here's an ordinary word count number for first novels. some human beings write skinny novels that win awards and others write tomes large sufficient to bludgeon burglers with. i imagine see you later because the e book is see you later because the tale desires it to be, you should be sturdy.

Epic: A work of 200,000 words or more.
Novel: A work of 60,000 words or more.
Novella: A work of at least 17,500 words but under 60,000 words.
Novelette: A work of at least 7,500 words but under 17,500 words.
Short story: A work of at least 2,000 words but under 7,500 words.
Flash fiction: A work of fewer than 2,000 words. (1,000 by some definitions)
