I prefer Jacob to Jayden. This is for a number of reasons.
Jacob is a classic, well-loved name, that won't date a child to a certain decade. It is also a name that is widely accepted as legitimate, and is a respectable 'formal' name.
Jacob is also cute on a child running around in a school playground, but is also sophisticated on a grown man. One could even conjure up images of a Grandpa Jacob.
I dislike Jayden, because as it has exploded in popularity this past decade, he will most likely be able to be dated to a certain decade, much as Jennifer is dated to the 70s, and Katie is dated to the 80s.
Jayden also has the uber-popular 'ayden' sound in it, that so many popular names possess these days. It is starting to get a little bit boring, and overused, sorry! Examples of the names I am talking about are Kayden, Hayden, Ayden etc.
Jayden is also not considered to be a very formal name. If I was to choose between two people to hire for my accounting firm, both with the same credentials and personality attributes, I would probably choose Jacob. This is because, clients would respect the name more than someone named Jayden.
I think that David is a great name, that will never grow old or tired.
Here are some other 'J' name suggestions for you to take a look at.
Jack, Jackson, Jai, Jaime, James, Jameson, Jareth, Jarman, Jarrad, Jason, Jasper, Javier, Jaxon, Jay, Jed, Jeffrey, Jeremiah, Jermaine, Jerry, Jesse, Jethro, Jett, Jhye, Jim, Joah, Joel, Jonas, Jonah, Jonathon, Jordan, Jory, Joseph, Joshua, Josiah, Joss, Juan, Julian, Julias, Justin
I'm going to include the link to a baby names forum where I think you will be able to find some good help on selecting a baby name.

I prefer Jacob David. If you call him Jayden about 1/6 of the little boys kindergarden class will answer to the teacher. In the future folks will always be able to guess his age by his first name. Besides, years ago I knew a wonderful Dr. whose first and middle names were David Jacob. Its a classic which will never go in or out of style.

That's a tough one... Jayden is becoming a HIGHLY popular and trendy name and I don't like names that a billion people have...then again... Jacob is the #1 most common name this year. But I'm going to go with Jacob David because you can call him Jake and I like the name Jake.

Jayden sounds like a girl's name.
And there should be a rhythm to names. In your choices, both first and middle names have 2 syllables. That's not good. If the first name has many syllables, the middle name should be short, and if the middle name has many syllables, the first name should be short.
By the way, congratulations on the baby boy!

Being honest, I don't like jayden and especially not with David, Jacob is OK but also doesn't sound great with David. Two names together that both have the same number of syllables often don't "flow" well.

Jayden is a beautiful name... and so is David...but to me, the two don't exactly have a nice ring when said together. David is too hard of a sound to follow Jayden...if you can, add something softer...Jayden Reese sounds nice to me.

I like Jayden also, but not with David. My nephew's name is Jaden Bryce. If you really want to use David, I would go with David Jayden.

Jayden is great....not sure about David. But Jaden itself is more unique I think and more fitting for this generation. Jacob I think is over used. I think whatever name you choose will be wonderful. Good Luck!
