When you solve for x in this type of an equation. It's like wrapping/unwrapping a present. (When you unwrap a present you do everything in reverse order of how it was originally wrapped).
The way it is now, first you would multiply the number by 2 and then add 10. To solve for x, you do the opposite.
The last thing you did was add 10. The opposite of adding 10 is subtracting 10. The first thing you did was multiply by 2; the opposite of multiplying by 2 is dividing by 2.
So you subtract 10 and then divide by 2.
Answer: x = (y-10)/2
