Martha Beck - Finding Your Own North Star
Excellent book, contains a lot of 'self-counselling' stuff.

Emotional Intelligence - Daniel Goleman
Feels very badly written to me, making it a lot of work to read through, but the information in there is absolute gold.

Tony Robbins has a lot of fans.

And anything on NLP would probably be useful to you.

Dr. Phil's self matters book and then there is another one that i forgot the name to but they were outstanding. It would be more helpful to know exactally what you were needing help with to help guide you better. I know a lot of people make fun of Dr. Phil but his book is excellent and has a workbook to go along with it.

HOW TO WIND FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE by DALE CARNEGIE. I really got a lot out of this book. It helped me to do my job better. It helps in everyday life too. For example: the book says you should always remember a person's name because that makes them feel good. They will not forget you either. It also teaches you to handle difficult situations and, have them come around to your way of thinking.

Here's something that's not even a book - it's a paragraph. The Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear, which begins: "I must not fear. Fear is the mindkiller..." is very powerful and has been a big help in my life. It is from Frank Herbert"s DUNE.
