Do you think that people are not afraid to show it because this is an internet site and there is some anonymity? I am shocked in this day and age at some of the opinions I read here.

Don't get me wrong, everyone has a right to their opinion and to speak their mind. I respect that. I'm just wondering because I don't run into this many blatantly racist people in my real life!

There is nothing americans enjoy more than talking about races and religion.
They express it here because in real life they'd get their butts kicked so far up between their shoulder blades they'd have to take their shirt off to sh1t.

You can get fired for making racist remarks in the real world. This is a relatively safe place to vent.
Yahoo is doing a great service to all of us to provide a sounding board for average folks like us. It also is a great gage of what people really think. Keep in mind that the people on here who vent this kind of venom are able to afford a computer and on-line service and technically sophisticated enough to find their way to Answers.
Just think of the millions of Americans who do not come here but vent at local bars.
Answers is a good barometer of real public sentiment.

We all have run into several prejudiced people whether it's about race, religion (beliefs), social class or whatever....and instead of outright coming out with their comments they smile in our face and feel something entirely different.

I've noticed people move out of their seat on a bus because, they feel uncomfortable sitting next to a person, I've had people try to belittle, stare or make comments to my face. I've seen the looks and turning away and I witnessed the offended party call out the offenser for her rude behavior. It's definately there, it depends if you are sensitive and aware of your surroundings.

No they don't have nooses and whips anymore, but slavery still exists, mental slavery and the criminal judicial system. There are generations who are still affected from what their ancestors went through. There are backlashes of what has happened. There are websites about white power, young Blacks and Latinos are shot or wrongfully convicted and there's police brutality.

It's about time WE ALL stood up for ALL PEOPLE! We need to educate the young, the old, and everyone in between and I don't mean the euro-centric history books in our schools....the US needs to apologize for what they did, if folks considered that as a group black people were enslaved longer than they have been free and their right to be angry because, they still get charged as criminals because of the color of their skin, they still aren't on a level playing field and if anyone thinks for a minute they is just post that question here, you'll see it differently.

No one has the right to feel they are better than other human being, no one has the right or entitlement to say something if it infringes on someone else's rights. Truth be told, there is one race...although, we aren't equal, and I do believe in reparation because these banks, tobacco companies and cooperations that made tall money off of FREE labor and these rich folks inherited it all instead...hmm.

If we want to be real here.....Blacks made this country to what it is today. Europeans killed off the Native Americans and took their land and then bought Black people because they didn't know how to run a plantation, they never worked in the blazing sun for 16 hours....the really sad part is that many are still effected by this atrocity.

We need CHANGES because NO ONE deserves to get anything based on color of skin good or bad, and we won't get anywhere if we don't see and call it as it really is. And now the Mexicans are replacing the Blacks in the war of racism....ask them if they think it's changed.

Off the subject a bit, when we talk about govt, please be advised 'the system' works, it's the way the govt wants it. If you think that they are for the people, they aren't, unless your lobbying and lining their pockets with BILL$. We have to do something, we have to rise as a PEOPLE, in UNITY, together! No one else is gonna do it! If you still think Blacks, Mexicans, Latinos or any other non-Whites are treated as fairly as Whites just ask them.

I'll give you an example: this came from Monster.com in the diversity newsletter. 3 White people are talking around the watercooler and they are just chatting, but when it's 3 Black people talking around the watercooler, why are they plotting a revolution??

Just some things for everyone to think about. THanK yoU!

I think it is the false sense of anonymity that allows so many to post racist views. Also, I think a lot of people post racist questions because they enjoy watching or participating in conflict, especially in an arena where they can rely on their intelligence (if they have any, which they usually don't) rather than their physical abilities.

Who else can they ask without looking like bigots? Also I think there is a lot of anger out there and a lot of jerks who just want to use "Answers" as a forum for their meaness and stupidity. If you aren't running into a lot of blatantly racist people in your real life you must live in a pretty insular situation. They're out there in hoards. Try another category like Visual Arts or Dating or Health and Beauty. It's a little harder to slip in bigotted remark there.

I think there are so many racist and hateful questions on this site so that people of like mind can meet. They know that out of every 10 answers they get from sane people, that they'll at least make one friend... Blessed be, for they know not what they do.

If it wasn't race they would find something else. People are cruel at times. I try hard not to be that way. Even amongst our own race we pick at each other. But I agree speaking your mind and consideration can be done together in a nice manner. But some do not have enough intelligence to accomplish that and we sometimes have to turn another cheek. Happy thoughts:-)

It is every where you know only about the place you have seen/you have known,do not get disheartened, these things are prevalent in all perts of the world,at the same time there is a moment of joy that there are people like you who can understand the things very well.

People are so racist simply because of ignorance and sometimes stupidity. People seem to forget that everyone is one of God's creations and it wouldnt matter if someone was purple, blue, or rainbow colored. Blessings.

It is a sign of the times. The people you speak of got these ideas from their parents, relatives, and friends.
