its lyric oriented instead of music oriented. i feel like most modern bands spend a long time writing lyrics but not enough time writing music for the song. bands dont seem to spend time on musical knowledge or theory either. anyone can learn to play an instrument so a lot of people are up and coming. most modern rock is bad.

I'm a fan of classic rock myself. In my opinion, Boston, Kansas, Foreigner, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Chicago made brilliant music.

Not all 'modern rock' is horrible. There are some really talented bands out there. Counting Crows' first album and Lifehouse's first album were both very good. I guess it just depends on what you listen to.

As for stuff on the radio... eh, I don't like much of it at all.

It sucks for the most part. So tired of all these cookie cutter female singers...Ashlee, Jessica, Kelly. I am glad to see more bands like AFI & Panic! at the Disco getting more popular (waiting for Snow Patrol to get bigger-they have the best lyrics & music). I prefer bands that focus on solid lyrics & music.

I think its depressing in sounds..and most of it sounds alike, well the lead singers have the same type of styles anyway..It seems to be more about lyrics than music these days too..Some still have good beats and musicians that are excellent but I am just partial to 60's-70's anyway..=)

Almost all the stuff the corporate, mainstream record companies puke up is crap. The whole "emo" thing is particularly lame. So is the pop-music-marketed-to-kids-as-"punk"-music thing (such as Good Charlotte aka N-Sync with guitars).

I think it lacks melody and is instead strongly rhythmic in it's orientation. Personally I prefer music that is more melodic.

i don't like it at all, can't get used to it and unfortunately it's everywhere, what the hell...everywhere i look, they're playing rock music, it sounds like a bunch of noise that hurts my ears that's all i can say...
