What are the duties of an LPN?

At present I'm a medical Assistant (900) hrs. What are the different duties and responsibilities compared to LPNs?

I'm currently a medical assistant (well, I used to work as one and am still certified in the field, but I don't work as one right now).

Medical assistants can give injections and medications with a Dr.'s orders (they just can't give intravenous medications). They can draw blood, take vitals, schedule office appointments, etc, etc. I'm sure you know all that already.

LPN's focus on more of a hospital component to care. They change bedpans, dress patients, help them to the bathroom (all the stuff that RN's do). They can also do all the clinical components that a MA can do (draw blood, give injections, etc). They can start IV lines and give IV meds (which an MA cannot usually do).

LPN's are not usually trained to run a medical office, though. They are not taught that much about billing, patient scheduling, and all that good stuff that I spent about half my MA course learning.

LPN's usually earn more an hour than MA's and it's a more versatile career since LPN's can work in medical offices and hospitals, while MA's are usually hired only for medical offices.

same thing but MA's do some office work, filing, billling and coding, and cant administer medicine
