I have severe middle back and neck problems from a car accident a few years ago that never went away. I bought a Kings Down mattress about a year ago and I HATE IT! It is the worst mattress because it is now lumpy and doesn't provide any support. Its even starting to sag in the middle...that mattess cost me $1,500!! I started sleeping on the floor and that has provided some relief but not totally. Can anyone suggest a good mattress for someone with severe back problems?

I know what you are going through. I was in a car accident in jan 2004 and suffer from back and hip pain. I have a Sealy mattress and it is great. However, I would get the temp mattress if I were to get another one.

i don't think a bed frame really matters, but it's a good idea to have a box spring under the mattress.

If you decide to try slow recovery (memory) foam, consider 3" pink over 5" lux. If it works on the floor, a platform type bedbase might be the way to go.

A friend of mine had back surgery & she loves the sleep by number type of bed. I love the memory foam bed. I never wake up sore, and no longer toss & turn.
