~Believe it or not, that actually happened. It lasted for thousands upon thousands of years. There are things called books that can tell you all about it. Check them out.

People would be a lot more REAL. In the modern world there are these totally unrealistic standards that everyone is held up to. Most of these standards, such as the ideal type of beauty, etc., etc., etc. can really harm people. Because of the television, people are constantly bombarded with images of how they should look, dress, and act. It makes people stop caring about being themselves, and consequently many people fall into the trap of superficiality.
Culture will always exist, obviously. Even if there was no such thing as television, there would be some clear cut standards for what is considered ideal in a society. However, television amplifies these standards. Because they are pushed so much in the media, and media is such a prevalent part of our lives, we become way too concerned with things that really do not matter.

There would be NO GOD in the middle of the living room or the family room to give allegiance to 24-7 and then no couches(along with stacked side tables filled with all types of delicacies) with overweight small or large stuffed or being stuffed humanoids giving rote worship.
Silence, because the loud jeers, tears of laughter or grief and yelping "whoopees!"are no longer there. No children begging and sucking up to parents with wide puppy eyes, saying "can we get this? Huh? Huh?!"or arguing which show is better to watch or already watched.
No more bad news of war, accidents, suicides, terriost attacks, earthquakes, tsunami, land slides, tornadoes, flooding, disease, and so on..and so forth!
No more indulgence of housewives in soap operas and Larry Springer because she's in the kitchen cooking stir fry or at the fitness center learning tybo or picking up the kids at school. And every ones laundry is smelling great for a change especially those workout clothes!
No more safety features to block all the orgies, child pornography, illicit sex, stories of "how I became a make believe Geisha" or I'm a forty year old virgin"..."Deep Throat". ..and all that lingo of F this or F that, no B, A, sh.., Ba..and all that violence!
Is this long winded enough? Try rewinding.

I know I am dating myself when I say this, however, when I was a kid we did not get cable television and only received two network stations, CBS and NBC. On a cloudy day if we put aluminum foil on the television antenna ABC would come in! Woo-hoo!
I was a creative, bright child who read for endless hours. I was forced to entertain myself and explore the world because I did not have a television to do it for me. If we had no television today I think there would be more family unity. People would talk and get to know their neighbors and their family members.
Television in itself is not bad, we just have way too much of it; and frankly most of it is just trash that contributes nothing to society. We get over 100 channels in my home and 95% of the time there is nothing decent to watch. Pitiful.
Last but not least, we, as adults could take the bull by the horns and be positive roll models for our children instead of letting the media decide who that should be. They [the children] would not be constantly bombarded with images of stick-thin anorexic women, who have been under the knife more than a good steak! Children would not be exposed to constant violence and sexuality. Nor would they grow up believing that young women actually act like Paris Hilton in the real world.
Oh yeah.....there could be a baby-boom. :)

Because I rarely ever watch television I can say that by not doing so I free up a lot of time to paint and write. Very little would ever get accomplished if artists or writers spent much time in front of a TV. The same would apply to inventors, musicians, etc.

Life would be perhaps too peaceful. As you won't get disturbing moments everytime you switch on the tv.
But of course when there was no tv, people spend their time together with others, there was more interaction among neighbors, parents and kids, other relatives, more travel to and from other places, more theaters as people require some form of entertainment. Of course more time for plenty of other things.

So much time would not be wasted. When I was a kid we got our first TV and it was black and white, then my life changed and I started sitting watching when there was time. When there was no TV during most of my grandparents' and some of my parents' lives they listened to the radio for the news and were entertained by programs on it. It seems to me my grandparents did alot of socializing and having guests to their homes so they were involved with people. There would be alot more active living going on instead of passive TV watching.

Probably more family oriented. Sometime TV can really get in the way of a good conversation. Plus TV can taint the minds of children. They can get the wrong idea about what life is about.

Wonderful!!!! People would have to start TALKING to each other again, read magazines and newspapers to get their news and information, and spend time together as families, instead of everyone sitting like 'zombies' watching a little "movie picture" in their living rooms while never communicating with each other.

People would socialize more. It would also trigger baby boom, part II. All the social ills we have a hard time solving would get worse, not better; traffic, pollution, crime, pandemics.
On the other hand
People may start using what God gave them; their brains & compassion and maybe, just maybe resolve the ills I just mentioned above.
