i got a car accident a year ago. it was quite bad but i never got treated for it, for a year now i wake up with back and neck pain everyday. i have to take a hot shower to release the tension or else i wont be able to function. I've seen my doctor and he's an incompetent asshole who told me that there is no cure and i will suffer forever. yes those were his specific words. i tried accupuncture. that doesnt really help at all. i was wondering is anyone else suffering from a similar problem and have you gone to see a chiropractor and if you have has it helped. Im not relal sure if its the bone or the muscle but im constantly tense all the time.

Very possibly you are suffering from Fibromyalgia and you may have disk bulging or compression due to the impact of the accident which could have caused issues with the back/spine.

I was in a vehicle accident 13 yrs ago this Oct and was in excruciating pain, literally paralyzed on one side. After 2 years I was diagnosed with FMS (Fibromyalgia Syndrome).

It could be a number of other things, but if you were fine before the accident and ill right after, the possibilities of anything such as bone cancer etc are pretty remote. However, your doctor, or another doctor who is familiar with FMS, should run the battery of tests that will tell them there is absolutely no indication of anything wrong physically...the next step will be to send you to physio...a chiropractor may assist as may acupuncture but all of it is basically temporary band aids.

If it is FMS you may be placed on a course of medication...it may take trial and error to get the pain under manageable control however, you'll find that things like warm/hot showers do help, cold temperatures increase pain, wet/damp weather may also affect you as will stress.

Pain will move from place to place one day neck, then back, then legs. Mornings could be tough when getting up from sleeping...stiffness, soreness etc.

If you touch yourself on the arms, legs or lower back it may feel very tender, even painful. All are symptoms of FMS. The key test for this is a test for Pressure Points. The body has 18 pressure point areas and a doctor will press the key points which will likely cause pain that doesn't go away immediately. If someone has 11 out of 18 points that respond with discomfort or pain, then they are said to have FMS.

I had 18 of 18 points and was classed as severe. I am still working to manage it 13 years later...

It is manageable and you can live with it, it won't kill you, it isn't contagious or deteriorating (bones not affected etc). It is however, very hard to overcome the pain sometimes. A Pain management course is very helpful and exercising, stretch, conditioning exercises that aren't intense, are best for this.

Overall, get to a doctor who is familiar with this so you can be tested to either confirm or rule out FMS

Good luck

Fibromyalgia.... usually from stress on the body ex... car accident, cancer, lupus, etc...

I have fibr. and yes I see a chiropractor. It helps a lot. I am disabled due to the cancer pain. After the chiropractor gives me an adjustment, I feel numb instead of pain in my joints... It really helps, try it.

I was on the morphine patch, but that did not really help.

I think you have reflex sympathetic dystrophy.
But I am not your doctor.
I suggest going to a pain specialist who is used to dealing with such things. You should trust your doctor, and when one tells you something like that.. you lose respect for them, and end up compromising your own health.
