I'm heading out to San Francisco on Friday. I wanted to know what kind of night life the city has to offer. I'll be staying close to Union Square so if you have any suggestion please let me know. What about attractions for the day? Oh, and what's the weather there like on the first week of August?

Ruby Skye is a happening club in that area now. I've not been yet, but my friends have, they said it was great. There are a ton of clubs happening south of market, when you get here, get and independent or Guardian, they are local indy papers, that are at every news paper stand area, they will have specials and parties for the weekend. The end up is a trip, very mixed (gay, straight, tweakers, dancers etc.) leaning a little more towards gay.

Bring a light jacket and comfortable shoes, you'll need both.

The weather is usually very mild to cool. Usually sunny during the day, the fog can come in later in the day and cool it off quick.

Go to chinatown (be sure to hit Jackson street, that's where the grocery stores and flopping fish and such are, I think it's more interesting than the tourist stores). Hang out in the Haight, near the park too.

It's a great city with a ton of stuff to do. There's a saying "If you don't have a good time in San Francisco, it's your fault"

Have a great time on your visit.

Look at the Golden Gate Bridge. Drive down Lombard St. Ride on a cable car to the end and watch the guy turn that heavy thing around. Look at some gay guys on the street.

My mom was just visiting for the weekend, and by far the biggest hit was the Go Car rental.

You are guided to all the key attractions in the city in a cool, GPS enabled, little car. I would recommend this to a visitor who wants to see the key sites and learn a bit about the city, or even to locals who want to have a great time cruising around.
