I love TGIFridays in Santo Domingo! It was the only place I found on the island to get a citron and soda with a splash of cranberry. For like a million dollars! On the other hand presidente is cheap, and good, especially when it is super cold. I wasn't underage ever when I was there, but in the parks there are always lots of kids drinking. Rum is cheap. You can bar crawl in Santo Domingo, especially on weekend nights, which is so much fun. Everyone is very friendly. Rugal! I think that is how you spell it, their local rum. Delicious!

I spent most of my time in Santo Domingo and it was about 7 years ago.

Personally, I found the local beer, Presidente, to be quite good.

When I was down there, they had a real hang up with American businesses. A combo meal at Wendy's ran about $8 US. TGI Fridays was called "Friday's American Bar" (despite all the TGIF logos) and was a place where you dressed up to go. In short, anything American was quite expensive.

Other than that, most Carribean Islands I've been too know how to party. The DR was no exception. There was an impressive night life and hopping bars were easy to find.
