That is a racist question. I don't think God sees skin color the way people do. He sees the beauty in ALL colors. It's a real shame how blind some people truly are.
You know why God created so many different colors and nations? Because God loves diversity. What a boring world if we were all clones, same hair color, same skin, same eyes!
Besides, if skin color were gone, people would just pick out Something Else to judge and stand up against... eye color... size and weight... hair length. When someone NEEDS to be better than another, it isn't hard to find Something to ridicule. Sad, really, don't you think?
Why don't you rethink your question. Karma has a real way of revealing truths we can't find on our own. The results can be Very difficult and harsh.
I have to say, I don't like saying rude, ugly things to people... but I do appreciate some of the other answers here. Open your eyes!

It is not the idea for the god to let some black people escape hurricane Katrina. It just a faith of each and individual life. It can happen to anyone no matter whether you are black or not.
If your time is up, god will take it back. If your time is still there god will let you live for another few years. Just Faith..

Why black? Why it just couldn't be people? It's the same reason why God let you wake up this moring. And that is why some people have work to do. Some people have things that God inplanted in them that needs to be birthed. Some people need to be here to carry out somethings. Wether black, white, hispanic, asian no matter what race; good or bad God has a plan and whoever lived is apart of the greater plan. And some people needed to learn somethings. And I thank God for sparing my life. Because I am one that survived Katrina.

Perhaps you need to rephrase your question to say, why did God let some people excape hurricane Katrina. Everyone is given a task from God. Their time was not up so they lived.

First off God didn't cause herricane Katrina. that was caused by global warming and we will see more severe storms.
We have tornados in tornado alley because cold air from the Dakotas meets warm air from texas. We never blame god.
what happened to those people is what happens to people in any natural diaster. Some people die. sad but true.
Peoples skin color had nothing to do with it. People of all races live along the coast and was affected.
